Introduction to Sanskrit

Waterperry House and Online
26th – 28th November 2021

The Absolute is not unknowable, nor imperceptible, for It shines of Itself. It is

known as real, conscious and limitless.

This weekend is offered as an introduction to Sanskrit with study led by Warwick
Jessup centred on ‘Self Discovery’, a text recently translated from Sanskrit. There will
be recitation and more detailed study of one verse with particular reference to key
Sanskrit words. Those having prior experience of Sanskrit are also welcome. The
weekend will take place at Waterperry House near Wheatley in Oxfordshire. Some
meetings will also be available for participants online.

This weekend is open to all attending a Philosophy course in the School who have
completed Philosophy Part 3. Those attending Philosophy Part 4 and Philosophy Part
5 should apply through their Philosophy tutors.

Students will be asked to help with the catering and cleaning needed in the house.

Students attending in person should arrive by 8pm on Friday having eaten. Departure
will be at 4.30pm on Sunday.

Fees (payable in advance): Standard fee: £86 full board (Full time students enrolled in an academic
institution: £34)

The fees for online participation are the same as above.

Closing date for bookings is 20th November. Please book via your philosophy tutor.

Online Meetings will take place as follows:
Saturday 9:00-10:30am, 11:00-11:50am and 2:30-3:30pm
Sunday 9:00-10:30am, 11:00-11.50am and 1:30-2:15pm

Those with special dietary/accommodation needs should mention these when booking.
We shall have a maximum of 40 resident at Waterperry. Those coming to Waterperry
need to take a lateral flow test no more than 48 hours before the start.  Do not come if
you test positive or have symptoms of covid (or any other transmissible disease).
