Practical Philosophy - a course in living
This course in Practical Philosophy - wisdom relevant to daily life in the modern world - calms the mind and improves relationships. Practice of exercises drawn from philosophical traditions of both East and West allow freedom from petty concerns and help us learn to distinguish what is important from what is not. These exercises, if they become part of everyday life, reconnect us with the present moment that is the essence of mindfulness.
Please see Course Outline for further details.
We hope to be meeting in person in January at Oxford. The usual fee of £65 for the term we has been reduced to £30 to make this remedy for turbulent times available to many. If you book before 31 December, there is a further reduction £20 and full time students can register for free.
We are also holding the course at a new venue, Waterperry House, nr Wheatley, Oxon. This beautiful house, home to philosophy retreats for decades, is seated in one of the top gardens in the country. So, after two hours discussion of thought-provoking topics, you could enjoy lunch in the teashop and then treat yourself to a wander in the glories of creation.
Monday 17th January 2022 and will run for 10 sessions.
Saturday 15th January 2022 at Waterperry
If you are unable to attend in person, there is an online course via zoom. Dates will differ
